LEAF REMOVAL... MADE EASY.โ€‹

Elite Lawn Care uses a two part process to minimize leafs in your yard this fall.ย  Every time our crews come to mow, they will pick up the leafs on your turf.ย  This will allow nutrients to continue to reach the soil for a healthy lawn. After the trees have dropped all of their leafs, a final fall clean up is performed to remove any remaining leafs from your yard and mulch beds.

ROUTINE LEAF REMOVAL

Each time that our crew comes to mow your property, they will perform a Leaf Removal Service on the grass.  Crews may use a combination of methods based on the conditions at the time of service.  These leaf removal methods include: attaching grass catchers to the lawn mowers to pick up the leafs, mulching or grinding the leafs to reduce volume, or blowing leafs to assist the removal.  Debris will be hauled off the property when required, or blown into designated woody areas if applicable.

FALL PROPERTY CLEAN UP

Once we reach the end of fall, we will then do a Final Fall Clean Up.

This is a more detailed clean up and includes blowing out the mulch beds, picking up sticks and cutting back any perennials that may require it (note ornamental grasses are cut back in the spring unless specially requested). This is scheduled after all the leafs on the trees around your property have fallen (normally around the 2 and 3rd week of November).

Priority is given to those clients that have leaf bagging service. There is always chance early snow events could prevent this service from being completed. This service is included with our Leaf Maintenance Plan or can be performed as a stand alone service.

FALL SERVICES FAQS

Most frequent questions and answers.

It is HIGHLY advised that you do. Leafs will block sunlight to the grass and will trap moisture which can slowly cause mold, disease or death of the turf.ย  Some leaves are also acidic and can change your soil enough to discourage healthy conditions for the turf.

This is the most intensive labor part of the service.ย  If it is done each week, it could be come expensive to our clients.ย  Generally, leafs in the mulch beds will not hurt anything if left for a few weeks, so we advise to wait until all the trees have dropped their leafs and then do a single clean up.

Yes it is possible but not recommended. By leaving the leafs you risk the heath of the grass as described above, and we prioritize clients that have leaf bagging. If you choose to wait and only do a Final Fall Clean Up, there is always a chance that an early snow event would prevent us from getting your property cleaned up. It is Chicago after all!

As a general rule, it will take longer and be more costly to pick up large quantity of leafs in the Spring.ย  Over the winter leafs absorb the moisture from the snow causing them to become wet and stick to the ground.ย  This makes some of our equipment unable to efficiently handle them.ย  With more time, comes a higher cost to the client.
