Build a career with a veteran-owned crew
Elite Lawn Care has served McHenry County since 2002. We were founded by Mike — a U.S. Army veteran who deployed to Iraq in 2009 — and we run on the same standards he learned in uniform: show up, do it right, and take care of the people working next to you.
We're a team of professional men and women who take this trade seriously. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
Real outdoor work, year-round
Our crews keep McHenry County lawns and landscapes looking their best — mowing and trimming, fertilization and weed control, aeration and dethatching, mulch and bed work, and full landscape and hardscape installs. When the snow flies, we plow and clear it.
That means steady, year-round work — not a job that disappears in November. It's physical, it's outdoors, and no two days look exactly the same. If you'd rather be moving and building something than stuck behind a desk, you'll fit right in.
Where you can start — and where it goes
We promote from within. Plenty of our leaders started on a mower. Here's the ladder and the specialized roles we hire for:
Crew Member. New to the trade? No problem. We'll train you on our equipment and our standards. Show up, work hard, and learn the craft.
Senior Crew Member. You know the work and can handle the tough properties. You help train the newer folks and keep the crew moving.
Crew Leader. Your truck, your route, your crew. You run the day, hit the standards, and set the pace — the seat that leads to management.
Fertilization & Weed Control Technician. The precise, knowledge side of lawn care. This is licensed application work, and we help the right people get licensed in Illinois.
Equipment Mechanic. Keep the fleet running — mowers, trucks, and plows. Steady, skilled, year-round work for someone who's good with machines.
Snow Plow Operator (seasonal). Winter hours when you want them — plowing and clearing residential and commercial properties across the county.
Attitude first. We'll teach the rest.
A lot of these roles need zero experience to start — we'd rather train you our way. What we can't train is showing up on time, working hard, and being straight with us.
When you apply, tell us honestly what you can and can't do. The skills you claim, you'll show us on the job — so there's no upside to overselling. "I haven't done that yet, but I'll learn" is a great answer.
A valid driver's license and a decent driving record help, since our crews tow trailers daily. We work in both English and Spanish. Being willing to put in a Saturday during the busy season goes a long way.
Five minutes. That's it.
The application is straight to the point — about five minutes. We get back to the right people fast. No black hole, no runaround.
